His two short films (3RD AVE. EL and HELP! MY SNOWMAN'S BURNING DOWN) were both nominated for Academy Awards. He also wrote, produced and directed an 84-minute film THE WRONG DAMN FILM (1975) that features Barry Bostwick, Barbara Dana and Keene Curtis. In his 7-minute film, BRAKE FREE (1972), a young boy's fantasy excursion on a steam-driven railway is skillfully cut to Beethoven's Third and Seventh symphonies. His 9-minute film 100 WATTS, 120 VOLTS (1982) shows the making of light bulbs, from start to finish, shaped in motion by the Brandenberg Concerto. His film GRANITE was entered in the 1981 Ann Arbor Film Festival.
Davidson was also cinematographer for Jack Curtis' THE FLESH EATERS (1964).
