Born in Kokomo, IN; educated at USC. He designed the sets for numerous 20th Century-Fox productions of the 1940s and 50s, beginning with THE GHOST AND MRS. MUIR (1947). In 1959 he moved over to MGM, replacing the retired Cedric Gibbons as supervising art director. In all, he has 165 films to his credit as art director.
