Ennio Flaiano

Born in Pescara, Italy. A former architect, journalist, drama critic, essayist, and novelist, he began writing for films in the early 1940s and is best known for his collaborations (with Fellini and Pinelli) on the screenplays of Fellini's films.In addition to his nominated films, Flaiano collaborated with Fellini on LUCI DEL VARIETÀ (1950, Variety Lights), LO SCIECCO BLANCO (1952, The White Shiek), LA STRADA (1954), IL BIDONE (1955, The Swindle), LA NOTTI DI CABIRIA (1957, Nights of Cabiria), BOCCACCIO '70 (1962), and GIULIETTA DEGLI SPIRITI (1965, Juliet of the Spirits). Fellini himself described Flaiano as "an unusually subtle writer, a sharp humorist, an impassioned reporter of Italian customs..."
