Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Entered American film as an orchestrator, arranger and composer for Columbia in 1946. Notable non-nominated composing credits include MR. DISTRICT ATTORNEY (1947), THE JACKIE ROBINSON STORY (1950), VICE SQUAD and PROJECT MOON BASE (both 1953), THE BOLD AND THE BRAVE (1956) and SLAUGHTER ON TENTH AVENUE (1957). From 1957, he composed mainly for television series ("Wanted: Dead or Alive," "The Rifeleman" (theme), "Johnny Ringo," "The Detectives," "The Dick Powell Show," "Burke's Law," "Gilligan's Island" and "The Big Valley.")
