Alfred Gilks
(1891 - 1970)

Cinematographer who entered American film with DOUBLE SPEED (1920) for Sam Wood at Famous Players-Lasky. He'd shot almost 40 films by the time talkies made the scene. Notable subsequent credits include LITTLE MISS MARKER (1934), RUGGLES OF RED GAP (1935), CALLING DR. KILDARE and DANCING CO-ED (both 1939), FIESTA (1941), YOU CAN'T WIN (1948), TWO WEEKS WITH LOVE (1950), THE PAINTED HILLS (1951) and BRIGHT ROAD (1953). He shot second unit photography for John Ford's THE SEARCHERS (1956).
