Oswald Hafenrichter
(1899 - 1973)

Born in Oplomitz, Jugoslavia. Film editor who entered German film in 1931 as an uncredited editor for Sagan's MÄDCHEN IN UNIFORM. He continued to work in Germany and Italy (notably on films by Carmine Gallone) until 1940. His next credits are in the UK after World War II: Alexander Korda's AN IDEAL HUSBAND (1947), Carol Reed's THE FALLEN IDOL (1948) and THE THIRD MAN (1949), and Frank Launder's THE HAPPIEST DAYS OF YOUR LIFE (1950). From 1950 until 1956, he edited a number of Brazilian features. Hafenrichter returned to UK production in 1957 with THE SMALLEST SHOW ON EARTH. Other UK credits include Charles Crichton's LAW AND DISORDER (1958) and such films as LONDON CALLING (also 1958), THE HANDS OF ORLAC (1961), LADIES WHO DO (1963), DR. WHO AND THE DALEKS (1965), THE PSYCHOPATH and THE DEADLY BEES (both 1966), CRY OF THE BANSHEE and TROG (both 1970), THE CREEPING FLESH and his last film, THE VAULT OF HORROR (a.k.a. "Further Tales from the Crypt") (both 1973).
