Born in Oakville, TN. Songwriter whose songs were first used in THAT'S RIGHT -- YOU'RE WRONG (1939, RKO). Other films in which his non-nominated songs appeared include SONG OF THE SOUTH (1946), STALLION CANYON (1949), MULE TRAIN (1950) and APACHE COUNTRY (1952). He was not credited for his songs in POT O' GOLD (1941), HI, GOOD LOOKIN'! and MEET MISS BOBBY SOCKS (both 1944), SADDLE PALS (1947) and RIM OF THE CANYON (1949). As a member of ASCAP, some of Heath's songs, written alone or in collaboration, include "Deacon Jones," "Take These Chains from My Heart" "Who Calls You Sweet Mama Now?", "Dear Son", "Gimme Dat Old Time Religion", "Safe Sane and Single", "Take These Chains from My Heart (and Set Me Free)" and "Uncle Remus Said."
