Ian McLellan Hunter
(1915 - 1991)

Born in England, UK; moved to the US as a teenager with his parents. Writer who entered American film with FISHERMAN'S WHARF (1939) for RKO. Other notable non-nominated writing credits (alone or in collaboration) include MR. DISTRICT ATTORNEY (1947), THE AMAZING MR. X (1948), A WOMAN OF DISTINCTION (1950), CAPTAIN SINBAD (1963), A DREAM OF KINGS (1969), UN HOMME ET MORT (1972), MASTERMIND (1976) and YOUR TICKET IS NO LONGER VALID (1981). Television series writing credits include "The Adventures of Robin Hood," "The Defenders" and "Seaway."

The Writers Guild of America, East named its Lifetime Achievement Award in Hunter's honor.
