Born in New York City. Songwriter ("The Woody Woodpecker Song"), author, composer and musician, educated at Los Angeles Community College. He was a musician in dance orchestras on radio and recordings and in films. He also wrote television scripts and special material for The Ritz Brothers, Eddie Cantor, Jimmy Durante, and Marion Hutton. Joining ASCAP in 1947, his other popular-song compositions include "Worry, Worry, Worry", "The Old Chaperone", "Take a Letter, Miss Smith", "I'll Wait", and "Leave It to Joan".
His non-nominated film credits include IF YOU KNEW SUSIE (1948), HIDDEN GUNS (1956), THE BADGE OF MARSHAL BRENNAN (1957), MAN OR GUN (1958), A LUST TO KILL (1959) and BUFFALO GUN (1961).
