In Hollywood as a screenwriter from the late 1940s, he did adequately in his single outing as a director in 1962 (CONVICTS 4 / REPRIEVE). His other screenplays (alone or in collaboration) include UNKNOWN WORLD (1951), ALADDIN AND HIS LAMP (1952), RAINTREE COUNTY (1957, also assoc. producer), NEVER SO FEW (1959), THE WAR LORD (1965), LIVING FREE (1972) and THE KLANSMAN (1974). He served as a front for Dalton Trumbo's screenplay for DEADLY IS THE FEMALE (1949). He wrote a few scripts for made-for-TV movies and series and retired in 1980.
