Born in North Dakota, USA. Film editor who entered American film as an uncredited assistant editor for George Cukor's WHAT PRICE HOLLYWOOD? (1932) at RKO-Pathé. His first feature as a credited editor was Ralph Ince's LUCKY DEVILS (1933) at RKO Radio. He continued cutting Westerns and "B" movies at the studio until 1943, when he edited Jean Renoir's THIS LAND IS MINE. After a 3-year break, he cut CRACK-UP (1946). Other credits during this period include THE BACHELOR AND THE BOBBY-SOXER (1947). In 1952, he became a supervising editor, and his subsequent unnominated feature credits (alone or in collaboration) include THE SEA AROUND US (1952), NOT AS A STRANGER (1955), THE PRIDE AND THE PASSION (1957), THE GREAT IMPOSTOR and POSSE FROM HELL (both 1961) and PRESSURE POINT (1962). IT'S A MAD MAD MAD MAD WORLD (1963) was his last film.
