Born in Tesanta, Austria-Hungary (now Tesanj, Bosnia-Herzegovina). Producer and director who entered American film in 1941 as the technical director for the skiing sequences in SUN VALLEY SERANADE at 20th Century-Fox. He produced and directed a number of shorts for Fox (THEY FIGHT AGAIN, 1944; THE ART DIRECTOR, 1949) and the CinemaScope shorts that Fox produced to book with their new CinemaScope features in the early 1950s. After directing the Cinerama documentary SEARCH FOR PARADISE (1957), Lang continued to direct for television series ("Sea Hunt," "Northwest Passage," "The Deputy," "Men into Space," "World of Giants," "The Dick Powell Show," "The Man from U.N.C.L.E.," "The Iron Horse" and "Felong Squad") until 1966.
As a producer at Fox, his feature film credits include CALL NORTHSIDE 777 (1948), 5 FINGERS (1952), WHITE WITCH DOCTOR (1953) and TORA! TORA! TORA! (1970, assoc. producer).
