Tambi Larsen
(1914 - 2001)
(Sometimes credited as Johannes Larsen)

Born in Bangalore, India. Art director who entered American film with THE SECRET OF THE INCAS (1954) at Paramount. Over the next 16 years, Larsen was art director for 25 films at Paramount, including the unnominated ARTISTS AND MODELS (1955), WILD IS THE WIND (1957), THE GEISHA BOY (1958), THE FIVE PENNIES (1959), THE RAT RACE (1960), THE PLEASURE OF HIS COMPANY (1961), THE OUTRAGE and THE DISORDERLY ORDERLY (both 1964), NEVADA SMITH (1966) and THE BROTHERHOOD (1969). After THE MOLLY MAGUIRES (1970, also production designer), Larsen worked independently on a few productions as art director: THE LIFE AND TIMES OF JUDGE ROY BEAN (1972), THE OUTFIT and THUNDERBOLT AND LIGHTFOOT (both 1974) and BREAKHEART PASS (1975).

Larsen's production design credits include the unnominated THE GRASSHOPPER (1970), A GUNFIGHT (1971), WHERE THE LILIES BLOOM (1974), THE OUTLAW JOSIE WALES and MOHAMMED, MESSENGER OF GOD (both 1976), THE WHITE BUFFALO (1977) and CIRCLE OF IRON (1979), as well as the Oscar®-nominated HEAVEN'S GATE (1980).
