w. Frank Sinatra (l.) and husband Jack Harding Born in Brooklyn, NY. In Hollywood from the early 1940s, she wrote many screenplays, mostly light, occasionally dramatic, alone or in collaboration, and received two Oscar nominations. Her unnominated screenwriting credits (alone or in collaboration) include THE AFFAIRS OF MARTHA (1942), ANCHORS AWEIGH (1945), MEET ME IN LAS VEGAS (1956), THE INN OF THE SIXTH HAPPINESS and MERRY ANDREW (both 1958), PLEASE DON'T EAT THE DAISIES (1960), PERIOD OF ADJUSTMENT and TWO FOR THE SEESAW (both 1962), and FITZWILLY (1967). She scored a big hit on Broadway in 1964 as the author of the book for the musical Funny Girl, which she adapted to the screen (1968). She was killed in an automobile accident. Her husband was actor John ("Jack") Harding.
