Virgil E. Miller
(1887 - 1974)

Navajo (1952) Born in Coffeen, IL. Cinematographer who entered American film in the silent era with A STORMY KNIGHT (1917) at Bluebird Photoplays. He had over 50 credits and was working at Universal at the advent of sound in pictures. He shot the "Mr. Moto" series (1937-1939) and many of the "Charlie Chan" films (1939-1940). Other notable credits at Universal include THE MUMMY'S CURSE (1944). He moved to MGM and shot the "Traveltalk" series of short films (1946-1950). After working on Groucho Marx's TV show "You Bet Your Life," Miller's last feature film credits include NAVAJO (1952), MURDER WITHOUT TEARS and CRAZYLEGS (both 1953), MISS ROBIN CRUSOE (1954), UNCHAINED (1955) and his last film, I KILLED WILD BILL HICKOK (1956).
