Reginald Mills
(1915 - 1990)

Born in London, England; educated at Cambridge University (modern languages), 1934. Film editor who entered British film with A MATTER OF LIFE AND DEATH (1946, a.k.a. "Stairway to Heaven" -- US) for Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger. Other Powell-Pressburger credits include BLACK NARCISSUS (1947), THE RED SHOES (1948), THE SMALL BACK ROOM (1949), THE ELUSIVE PIMPERNEL and GONE TO EARTH (both 1950), THE TALES OF HOFFMANN (1951), THE WILD HEART (1952), THE SORCERER'S APPRENTICE and OH... ROSALINDA! (both 1955) and THE BATTLE OF THE RIVER PLATE (1956, a.k.a. "Pursuit of the Graf Spee" -- US).

Some of Mills' other editing credits include WHERE'S CHARLEY (1952), THE SPANISH GARDENER (1956), WINDOM'S WAY (1957), BLIND DATE and PASSIONATE SUMMER (both 1958), CIRCUS OF HORRORS and THE CRIMINAL (both 1960), THE DAMNED (1962), THE SERVANT (1963), KING & COUNTRY (1964), ULYSSES (1967), Franco Zeffirelli's ROMEO AND JULIET (1968), Jack Coufer's RING OF BRIGHT WATER, David Giles' THE DANCE OF DEATH and the Spanish horror-thriller LA RESIDENCIA (all 1969) and the TV mini-series "Jesus of Nazareth" (1977). Mills directed the musical TALES OF BEATRIX POTTER (1971).
