Walter Newman
(1916 - 1993)

Born in New York City. Writer who was nominated for his first screen collaboration, Billy Wilder's ACE IN THE HOLE (1951, a.k.a. THE BIG CARNIVAL) at Paramount. In addition to his TV credits for episodes of "Climax!" and "Westinghouse Desilu Playhouse," Newman's other notable screen credits (alone or in collaboration) include MACAO (1952, dialogue - uncredited), UNDERWATER! (a.k.a. "The Big Rainbow") and THE MAN WITH THE GOLDEN ARM (both 1955), THE TRUE STORY OF JESSE JAMES (1957), CRIME & PUNISHMENT USA (1959), THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN (1960), THE INTERNS (1962), CAT BALLOU (1965), BLOODBROTHERS (1978) and THE CHAMP (1979).
