Born in Budapest, Austria-Hungary (now Hungary). Story, screenplay and adaptation writer who entered American film with GUILTY AS HELL (1932) at Paramount. Other notable credits (alone or in collaboration) include HER BODYGUARD (1933), THIRTY DAY PRINCESS (1934), WINGS IN THE DARK (1935), ROSE OF THE RANCHO (1936), SHE'S NO LADY (1937), ROMANCE IN THE DARK (1938), HONOLULU and RIO (both 1939), STRANGER ON THE THIRD FLOOR (1940), THE UNINVITED and AND NOW TOMORROW (both 1944), THE SNAKE PIT (1948), THE HOUSE ON TELEGRAPH HILL (1951), NIGHT WITHOUT SLEEP (1952) and his last film, PORT AFRIQUE (1956).
