Born in New York City into Hollywood "royalty": His uncle was the powerful Adolph Zukor and his cousins were the Loews, who controlled MGM. A former stage actor, he began writing for films and TV after his WW II service in the infantry. He collaborated on a number of notable Hollywood films: REBEL WITHOUT A CAUSE (1955); THE OUTSIDER (1962); THE UGLY AMERICAN (1963); and SUMMER WISHES WINTER DREAMS (1973).
