Walter Strenge
(1898 - 1974)

Born in Albany, NY. Director of photography who entered American film as cinematographer for MOTHER'S BOY (1929) at Pathé Exchange. Other notable credits include DRUMS O'VOODOO (a.k.a. "She Devil," 1934), APPOINTMENT WITH MURDER (1948), FLYING DISC MAN FROM MARS (1950), STAGECOACH TO FURY (1956), HIT AND RUN (1957), THE LITTLEST HOBO (1958), NOOSE FOR A GUNMAN (1960), SERGEANT RYKER (1968), and work on several TV series and made-for-television movies.

A long time member of the American Society of Cinematographers, Strenge developed the depth of field charts which are the standard today. He was also one of the two editors of the American Cinematographer Manual up until his death.
