Born in Missouri, USA. Production designer and art director who entered American film as an associate art director for James Whale's THE ROAD BACK (1937) at Universal. Other associate credits include KLONDIKE KATE (1943) and THE STORY OF G.I. JOE (1945). As art director, he collaborated on such notable films as THE HAIRY APE and TOMORROW, THE WORLD! (both 1944), MEXICANA (1945), IN OLD SACRAMENTO (1946), THE WEB (1947), WAKE OF THE RED WITCH (1948), SANDS OF IWO JIMA (1949), SINGING GUNS (1950), FLYING LEATHERNECKS (1951), JOHNNY GUITAR (1954), AROUND THE WORLD IN 80 DAYS (1956), A RAGE TO LIVE (1965), HAWAII (1966), CHARRO! and DADDY'S GONE A-HUNTING (both 1969), the TV series "M*A*S*H" and his last film, LIMBO (1972).
Sullivan's production designer credits include INVASION USA (1952), TARGET EARTH (1954), MURDER IS MY BEAT (1955), THE UNKNOWN TERROR (1957), THE WORLD OF HENRY ORIENT (1964) and THE KARATE KILLERS (1967). His cousin was actress Mary Treen (1907-1989).
