Charles S. Thompson


The Quiet Man (1952)
Set decorator who entered American film with CARSON CITY CYCLONE (1943) at Republic. He worked on over a hundred Repbulic Westerns and "B" pictures through the early 1950s, most notably KING OF THE COWBOYS (1943), ROSIE THE RIVETER (1944), ANGEL AND THE BADMAN (1947), THE RED PONY (1949), RIO GRANDE (1950) and THE QUIET MAN (1952). Thompson's work at other studios includes BIG JIM McLAIN (1952), A PATCH OF BLUE (1965), CHARRO! (1969), DADDY'S GONE A-HUNTING (1969) and his last film, JOE KIDD (1972). Thompson worked extensively in TV series and made-for-TV movies near the end of his career.
