Film editor who entered American film with Lionel Barrymore's and Wesley Ruggles' THE SEA BAT (1930) at MGM. He cut seven of Jules White's Three Stooges shorts at Columbia between 1941 and 1943. Working in Columbia's "B" unit through the 1950s, some of Thoms' notable credits during this period include a number of Westerns and film-noir thrillers, such as THE HARDER THEY FALL (1956), JEANNE EAGELS and PAL JOEY (both 1957), THE 7TH VOYAGE OF SINBAD (1958) and FORBIDDEN ISLAND (1959). Beginning in 1952 (SCANDAL SHEET), Thoms cut five of Samuel Fuller's films (THE CRIMSON KIMONO, 1959; UNDERWORLD U.S.A., 1961; SHOCK CORRIDOR, 1963; and THE NAKED KISS, 1964).
