Other notable writing credits (alone or in collaboration) include THE STRATTON STORY (1949), THE PRIDE OF ST. LOUIS (1952), JAILHOUSE ORCK (1957), DARBY'S RANGERS (1958), ONE-EYED JACKS (1961), BIRDMAN OF ALCATRAZ (1962, also producer) and THE SPY WHO CAME IN FROM THE COLD (released in 1965 after his death).
