Designing Woman (1957) Born in New York City, the son of a vaudeville performer-writer, he began his career as a radio writer. He joined MGM in the mid-1940s and wrote screenplays, alone or in collaboration, for many films, mostly on the light side: TILL THE CLOUDS ROLL BY (1946); TAKE ME OUT TO THE BALL GAME (1949); THREE LITTLE WORDS, SUMMER STOCK and THE TOAST OF NEW ORLEANS (all 1950); ANGELS IN THE OUTFIELD (1951); DON'T GO NEAR THE WATER (1957); THE GAZEBO and WHERE THE BOYS ARE (both 1960); and THE IMPOSSIBLE YEARS (1968). In the early 50s he also produced a number of films, including DESIGNING WOMAN (1957).
