Born in Philadelphia, PA. Composer, conductor, pianist and songwriter, educated at West Philadelphia High School. He studied music with Constantin von Sternberg. He was first a concert pianist, and then a conductor, composing for radio, television and film. He joined ASCAP in 1955, and his songs include "Cuddle Up", and "High Barbaree". His works include "Western Ballet" and "Variations in Miniature on Chopsticks".

As a musical director or conductor, his film credits include I DREAM OF JEANNIE (1952), SWEETHEARTS ON PARADE (1953), BUTTERFIELD 8 (1960), TWO LOVES (1961), SWEET BIRD OF YOUTH and MUTINY ON THE BOUNTY (both 1962), SUNDAY IN NEW YORK (1963), THE UNSINKABLE MOLLY BROWN and THE AMERICANIZATION OF EMILY (both 1964), THE SANDPIPER and THE CINCINNATI KID (both 1965) and THREE BITES OF THE APPLE (1967).
