Robert R. Benton
(1924 - 2003)

Born in Los Angeles, CA. Began working at MGM in 1957. Worked as set decorator on such notable (non-nominated) pictures as TEACHER'S PET, NO TIME FOR SERGEANTS, THE GEISHA BOY, THE MATCHMAKER and I MARRIED A MONSTER FROM OUTER SPACE (all 1958); THE BELLBOY and CINDERFELLA (both 1960); ONE-EYED JACKS (1961); THE NUTTY PROFESSOR (1963); EL DORADO (1967); WILL PENNY and THE ODD COUPLE (both 1968); THE LIFE AN TIMES OF JUDGE ROY BEAN (1972); SOLYENT GREEN (1973); FREAKY FRIDAY (1976); TELEFON (1977); FOUL PLAY (1978); THE AMITYVILLE HORROR, BEING THERE and WHEN YOU COMIN' BACK RED RYDER? (all 1979); THAT CHAMPIONSHIP SEASON (1982); STARMAN (1984); TOP GUN and HEARTBREAK RIDGE (both 1986); CHANCES ARE (1989); and WHITE MEN CAN'T JUMP (1992). He retired from films in 1995.
