Former apprentice to Christian Matras and Jean Bachelet who contributed to such visually powerful works as A DAY IN THE COUNTRY (1936) / UNE PARTIE DE CAMPAGNE, DEDEE (1948), BLACK ORPHEUS (1959) and THE LONGEST DAY (1962). Son Georges Bourgoin is also a cinematographer.
