Sidney Carroll
(1913 - 1988)

Wrote mainly for television, starting in 1948, crafting scripts for "Studio One" and "Alfred Hitchock Presents." Besides THE HUSTLER (1961), his only other feature film writing credits are THE STRANGER LEFT NO CARD (1952), THREE CASES OF MURDER (1955, segment "You Killed Elizabeth"), SEKRET USPEKHA (1965), and A BIG HAND FOR A LITTLE LADY and GAMBIT, both 1966. He continued to write for television until 1986. His last project was the PBS made-for-TV biography "Ike", written with his son David Carrol, with whom he collaborated during the last five years of his career.

Carroll's wife from 1940 until his death in 1988 was actress/writer June Carroll, who wrote the book or lyrics for some 12 Broadway shows and revues.
