Born Gary Neil Miller in Shattuck, OK. A dwarf, he courageously pursued an acting career beyond the obvious freak roles, and in the early 1960s made a strong bid for recognition in the Broadway play The Ballad of the Sad Cafe. He received an Oscar® nomination for his first major film, SHIP OF FOOLS (1965), in which he played a compassionate observer of the human scene. He subsequently appeared in other films, plays, and TV episodes -- notably as Dr. Loveless in "The Wild, Wild West." He was found dead, a possible suicide, in his London hotel room during the filming of THE ABDICATION in 1973.  Nominated for Supporting Actor 1965: SHIP OF FOOLS 1 nomination
