Phoebe Ephron

Born Phoebe Wolkind in New York City; educated at Hunter College, NYC. Began collaborating on plays with her husband Henry shortly after their marriage in 1934. Their first stage hit, Three's a Family, was produced on Broadway in 1943. Take Her, She's Mine, another Broadway success, in 1961, was later adapted for the screen. The Ephrons collaborated on many light screenplays from the mid-1940s, including ON THE RIVIERA (1951), THERE'S NO BUSINESS LIKE SHOW BUSINESS (1954), DADDY LONG LEGS (1955), CAROUSEL (1956), and DESK SET (1957). Their daughter is writer-director Nora Ephron; another is writer-production executive Amy Ephron.
