Freddie Francis

Born in Islington, London, England. Former camera operator for Alexander Korda whose highly acclaimed work as a cinematographer ranges from the gritty urban landscapes of ROOM AT THE TOP (1959) to the lush colors of GLORY (1989). He was also director of photography for THE ELEPHANT MAN (1980), THE FRENCH LIEUTENANT'S WOMAN (1981), DUNE (1984) and CAPE FEAR (1991). Francis's work as a director was primarily in the horror genre [TROG (1970), TALES FROM THE CRYPT (1972), THE CREEPING FLESH (1973), SON OF DRACULA (1974), LEGEND OF THE WEREWOLF (1975), et al.].
