Born in Philadelphia, PA. Entered American films in 1944 as composer for THE NEGRO SOLDIER, a 1944 (Col.) Frank Capra short produced by the U.S. War Department. Jackson went to work at MGM and orchestrated or arranged music for BATHING BEAUTY and MUSIC FOR MILLIONS (both 1944), THRILL OF A ROMANCE, HER HIGHNESS AND THE BELLBOY and SPREADIN' THE JAM (all 1945), ZIEGFELD FOLLIES and NO LEAVE, NO LOVE (both 1946), and THE KISSING BANDIT (1948). Also at MGM, he composed music for A DATE WITH JUDY (title song, 1948). He then moved to 20th Century-Fox and composed music for Bernard Kowalski's BLOOD AND STEEL (1959), then Bert I. Gordon's TORMENTED (1960) at Allied Artists. He made one appearace as an actor, in I PASSED FOR WHITE (1960). Then it was back to MGM to collaborate with Jack Elliott and Meredith Wilsson on composing the music for THE UNSINKABLE MOLLY BROWN (1964). His last recorded credit is as composer on THREE WEEKS OF LOVE (1965.)
