Born Giuseppe Ralph Janni in Milan, Italy; educated at Milan University & Centro Sperimentale (Rome). In the UK from 1939, he entered films in 1941 and formed his own production company in 1947. He produced a number of notable British films, including BILLY LIAR (1963), DARLING (1965), MODESTY BLAISE (1966), FAR FROM THE MADDING CROWD (1967), SUNDAY BLOODY SUNDAY (1971) and YANKS (1979).  Nominated for Best Picture 1965: DARLING - Producer at Anglo-Amalgamated 1 nomination
