Born in Budapest, Austria-Hungary (now Hungary). This distinguished cinematographer, in Hollywood from 1926, was behind the camera for almost 70 feature films until his retirement in 1977. He was a camera operator on WINGS (1927). An eight-time Oscar® nominee (for B&W and color in just 17 years), Laszlo won the Award once, for SHIP OF FOOLS (1965). Other notable (non-nominated) cinematography credits include ROAD TO RIO (1947), D.O.A. (1950), THE JACKIE ROBINSON STORY (1950), THE WELL (1951), THE STAR (1952), STALAG 17, THE MOON IS BLUE and HOUDINI (all 1953), VERA CRUZ (1954), 4 FOR TEXAS (1963), BABY THE RAIN MUST FALL (1965), LUV (1967), DADDY'S GONE A-HUNTING (1969) and his last film, THE DOMINO PRINCIPLE (1977).
