Nanni Loy

Born Giovanni Loy in Cagliari, Sardinia, Italy. He entered films after a course in documentary production at the Centro Sperimentale di Cinemtagrafia in Rome as an assistant to such directors as Allesandrini, Zampa, and Genina. Piloted two documentaries before his debut as a feature director in 1957. He came into prominence with THE FOUR DAYS OF NAPLES (1962), a film noted for its realistic re-creation of WW II events. His feature film output is sparse, but he worked frequently for Italian TV and taught directing at the Centro Sperimentale.
