Ariane Mnouchkine

Born in Boulogne-sur-Seine, France. French stage and film director, whose maternal grandfather was British stage and film actor Nicholas Hannen (1881-1972). Her father was producer Alexandre Mnouchkine (1908-1993). She created the avant-garde Paris stage ensemble "Theatre du Soleil." She rarely works in cinema, writing and directing 1789 (1974) and MOLIÈRE (1978). She also directed LA NUIT MIRACULEUSE (1989) and LE DERNIER CARAVANSÉRAI (2006).
