at USC in 1933 Born in New York City. A former USC All-American football star, he entered films in the mid-1930s as an assistant director. After WW II service as a naval officer, he returned to Hollywood as an associate producer, becoming a full producer for Universal-International late in the 1940s. Later with MGM and Fox, he also produced for TV. Some notable credits: TO HELL AND BACK and THE BENNY GOODMAN STORY (both 1955), MOVE OVER, DARLING (1963), FATE IS THE HUNTER (1964), MORITURI (1965), CAPRICE and TONY ROME (both 1967), THE DETECTIVE and LADY IN CEMENT (both 1968). He died in 1979 of a massive stroke while playing golf in Torrance, CA.
