Born in Baku, Azerbaijan, Russian Empire (now Azerbaijan). Entered Frenchand German films as a producer in 1927 (DIE APACHEN VON PARIS / APACHES OF PARIS). Worked as a line producer at Les Films Marcel Vandal et Charles Delac on Wilhelm Thiele's LE BAL / DER BALL (1931). Subsequent producing credits include MONSIEUR EST SAISI (1936), L'AUGERGE ROUGE (1951), LE PETIT PROF (1959), 1-2-3-4 OU LES COLLANTS NOIRS (1960), CHAGALL (1964), POPPIES ARE ALSO FLOWERS (1966), and LA VINGT-CINQIÉME HEURE / THE 25TH HOUR (1967).
From the late 1920s to the mid-1940s, Schiffrin worked as a production manager on such films as NUITS DE PRINCES (1929), ROMANCE SENTIMENTALE (1930), L'ORDONNANCE (1933), LES YEUX NOIRS / DARK EYES (1935), LA PORTE DU LARGE (1936), NUITS DE FEU (1937), LE QUAI DE BRUMES / PORT OF SHADOWS (1938), CAVALCADE D'AMOUR (1940), and FAUSSE ALERTE / THE FRENCH WAY (1945).
