Born in London, England. Entered British films as an uncredited assistant art director on THUNDER ROCK (1942). Art director or production designer on such notable films as tom thumb (1958), GORGO (1961), FOUR HORSEMEN OF THE APOCALYPSE (1961), NINE HOURS TO RAMA, CHILDREN OF THE DAMNED and THE HAUNTING (all 1963), THE AMERICANIZATION OF EMILY (1964), OPERATION CROSSBOW (1965), POPE JOAN (1972), A DOLL'S HOUSE (1973), THE OLD CURIOSITY SHOP (1975), THE INCREDIBLE SARAH (1976), DRAGONSLAYER (1981), EVIL UNDER THE SUN (1982), THE PIRATES OF PENZANCE (1983), INDIANA JONES AND THE TEMPLE OF DOOM (1984), LABYRINTH (1986), WHO FRAMED ROGER RABBIT (1988), and his last film, INDIANA JONES AND THE LAST CRUSADE (1989).
