Born in Brooklyn, NY. Started writing for films in 1943 at Monogram with CAMPUS RHYTHM. Oscar-winning Hollywood screenwriter, blacklisted during the McCarthy Era in the 1950s. Wrote for television ("The Andy Griffith Show," 1960, and "The Dick Van Dyke Show," 1961). Other screenwriting credits include BEHAVE YOURSELF (1951, story), THE DOUBLE MAN (1967), A GUIDE FOR THE MARRIED MAN (1967, book), THE SECRET WAR OF HARRY FRIGG (1968, also story), ONCE YOU KISS A STRANGER (1969) and his last project, screenplay and story for the TV movie "A Guide for the Married Woman" (1978).
