with daughter Emma at the Bay Street Theatre Born Walton-on-Thames, Surrey, England. Noted British art director who did his first screen work in 1964 on the musical MARY POPPINS. Walton has been acclaimed for his theatrical and film projects, notably the fantasy sequences in ALL THAT JAZZ (1979). He received Tony® Awards for his scenic designs in Pippin (1973) and The House of Blue Leaves (1986).

Notable (non-nominated) film credits include: (as costume designer & production designer) A FUNNY THING HAPPENED ON THE WAY TO THE FORUM (1966), FAHRENHEIT 451 (1966), PETULIA (1968), THE SEA GULL (1968), EQUUS (1977), DEATHTRAP (1982), THE GOODBYE PEOPLE (1984) and THE GLASS MENAGERIE (1987). He was production designer on THE BOY FRIEND (1971), PRINCE OF THE CITY (1981), HEARTBURN (1986), REGARDING HENRY (1991) and the TV productions of "The Man Who Came to Dinner" (2000), starring Nathan Lane, and "Our Town" (2003), with Paul Newman.

Walton was married to actress Julie Andrews from 1959 until 1967. Actress Emma Walton (b. 1962) is their daughter.
