John Woolf
(1913 - 1999)

Born in London, England. The son of veteran British producer C. M. Woolf, and brother of James Woolf. The brothers founded the London-based Romulus Films in 1949 which produced such Anglo-American productions as PANDORA AND THE FLYING DUTCHMAN (1951), THE AFRICAN QUEEN (1951) and MOULIN ROUGE (1953). Later, they personally produced a number of first-rate British films, including THE SILENT ENEMY (1958) and ROOM AT THE TOP (1959). On his own, John produced OLIVER! (1968), THE DAY OF THE JACKAL (1973) and THE ODESSA FILE (1974).
