James Woolf
(1919 - 1966)
Biography from Katz's Film Encyclopedia

Born in London, England. The son of veteran British producer C. M. Woolf, and brother of John Woolf. The brothers founded the London-based Romulus Films in 1949 which produced such Anglo-American productions as PANDORA AND THE FLYING DUTCHMAN (1951), THE AFRICAN QUEEN (1951) and MOULIN ROUGE (1953). Later, they personally produced a number of first-rate British films, including THE SILENT ENEMY (1958) and ROOM AT THE TOP (1959). On his own, James produced THE L-SHAPED ROOM (1962), OF HUMAN BONDAGE and THE PUMPKIN EATER (both 1964), and KING RAT and LIFE AT THE TIP (both 1965).
