Askey in 2005 at the age of 80 Born in Austin, TX. Legendary Motown jazz trumpeter, composer/songwriter, arranger, conductor and record producer, he's had a very limited career, though, in films and on television. He composed the music for the 1979 TV movie "Dummy" and arranged the music and conducted 1992's "Diana Ross Live! The Lady Sings... Jazz & Blues: Stolen Moments." The quintessential sideman, he's never issued a solo album.
