Folmar Blangsted
(1904 - 1982)

Summer of '42 (1971) Born in Denmark. Wrote or directed a few westerns at Columbia in the late 1930s before moving to the cutting room in 1944 (THE DOUGHGIRLS, Warner Bros.), where he remained for the rest of his career. Notable film editing credits include GOD IS MY CO-PILOT and RHAPSODY IN BLUE (both 1945), NEVER SAY GOODBYE (1946), THE WAY WITH WOMEN and CRY WOLF (both 1947), TO THE VICTOR and WALLFLOWER (both 1948), FLAMINGO ROAD (1949), PRETTY BABY (1950), I WAS A COMMUNIST FOR THE FBI and JIM THORPE -- ALL-AMERICAN (both 1951), THE STORY OF WILL ROGERS (1952), A STAR IS BORN (1954), and THE COURT-MARTIAL OF BILLY MITCHELL (1955).

Blangsted began editing for television in 1957 with the TV series "Maverick". He also cut episodes of "Wanted: Dead or Alive", "The Rifleman", and "Honey West". His subsequent feature credits include MARJORIE MORNINGSTAR and THE LEFT HANDED GUN (both 1958), RIO BRAVO (1959), THE RISE AND FALL OF LEGS DIAMOND and THE DARK AT THE TOP OF THE STAIRS (both 1960), CLAUDELLE INGLISH (1961), MERRILL'S MARAUDERS and TARAS BULBA (1962), PT 109 (1963), DEAD RINGER and DEAR HEART (both 1964), THE WAR LORD and BUS RILEY'S BACK IN TOWN (both 1965), UP THE DOWN STAIRCASE and CAMELOT (both 1967), BANDOLERO! and HELLFIGHTERS (both 1968), COLLOSUS: THE FORBIN PROJECT (1969), SUMMER OF '42 and THE PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS (both 1971), THE OTHER (1972) and his last feature, Stanley Kramer's OKLAHOMA CRUDE (1973). He also edited several made-for-TV movies before retiring in 1975.
