Born in London, England. Started writing stories and screenplays, alone or in collaboration, for British films in 1940, the most notable of which are GASLIGHT (1940 British adaptation of Patick Hamilton's play), THE PRISONER (1955, adapted from Peter Glenville's two-man play, with Alec Guinness and Jack Hawkins, about a beloved Cardinal imprisoned and interrogated by an unnamed State Inquisitor), the 1956 adaptation of Tolstoy's WAR AND PEACE, and ANNE OF THE THOUSAND DAYS, which was her last project.
