Rupert Crosse
(1927 - 1973)

Started to appear on American television in 1959 on the TV series "Bonanza" and "Staccato" and continued to make guest appearances until 1967 on such shows as "Ben Casey," "Dr. Kildare," "The Man from U.N.C.L.E." and "Felony Squad." Featured in John Cassavetes' SHADOWS (1959) and TOO LATE BLUES (1961). He appeared in the Man from U.N.C.L.E. feature TO TRAP A SPY (1964) and played a hobo in WILD SEED (1965). He played Indian Joe in the 1965 western RIDE IN THE WHIRLWIND, with Cameron Mitchell, Millie Perkins and Jack Nicholson. The comedy-western WATERHOLE #3 followed in 1967. Then came his breakthrough role of Ned McCaslin in THE REIVERS (1969), for which he received an Oscar® nomination as supporting actor. His next job was in the TV comedy cop series "The Partners" (1971 - 1972), in which he played Don Adams' partner, Det. George Robinson. His career and life were cut short when he died of cancer on Nevis in the West Indies at the age of 45.
