American film editor who distinguished himself in the 1970s with his work on furiously paced urban dramas, including THE FRENCH CONNECTION (1971), and has since applied the same vigorous pacing to a variety of genres, including dramas (APOCALYPSE NOW, 1979) and epics (REDS, 1981 - add'l ed.).
