Jacobs and wife Natalie Trundy on the set
Born in Los Angeles. A graduate of USC, he entered films as a messenger and became a publicist for MGM, then for Warners, and finally for his own publicity firm. Turning independent producer in the mid-60s, he had several commerical successes, notably PLANET OF THE APES (1968) and its sequels. But also had his share of box-office flops, headed by DOCTOR DOLITTLE. Other notable pictures include WHAT A WAY TO GO! (1964), THE CHAIRMAN (1969), GOODBYE, MR. CHIPS (1969), PLAY IT AGAIN, SAM (1972), TOM SAWYER (1973) and his last picture, HUCKLEBERRY FINN (1974).

From 1968 until his death in 1973, Jacobs was married to actress Natalie Trundy (b. 1940), who performed in several of the APES sequels.
